The Turnpike Gallery regularly hosts free drop-in art & craft workshops for families inspired by our exhibitions programme. Come along to meet an artist and try new creative activities inspired by our local heritage and environment. Suitable for families with children aged 5+.

Saturday Family Workshops

Saturday 11 May 11am-1pm

Bowtop Caravan Design - Discover how to make your own 3D bowtop caravan, and learn about Gemma's own Romany Gypsy cultural heritage.

Saturday 25 May 11am-1pm 

Plastic Wreath - Using recycled materials such as plastic bottles and bags, we will create plastic flower sculptures to add to our own sustainable decorative wreaths.

Saturday 8 June 11am-1pm

Natural Dye Painting - Experiment by painting with dyes made from fruits, vegetables and spices and learn about how these natural pigments are made.

Saturday 22 June 11am-1pm

Fruit & Veggie Prints - Printmaking with the natural patterns found in fruit and veg - the circular spread of lines from the mushroom, the cobbles effect of a corn on the cob, the tree shape provided by cauliflower and the shape of a flower cut in half!

All workshops are suitable for families with children aged 5+, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All sessions are drop-in, no need to book. If the session is full you may be asked to wait until a space becomes available.
