We believe in the positive impact that arts and culture have on our lives. Because of this, The Turnpike Gallery creates opportunities for meaningful encounters with art and artists.
Our vision is to empower artists and communities to explore their roles in a dynamic, inclusive and connected society, while supporting mental health and wellbeing, nurturing connections with each other and the planet, and addressing real life challenges with creative ideas and solutions.
Building on the legacy of the Turnpike Centre as a place for creativity, inspiration and ambition over the last 50 years, The Turnpike Gallery recognises its unique position as a hub for vibrant cultural activity in the town of Leigh, presenting an exciting programme of exhibitions, events, projects and activities.
The Turnpike Gallery supports contemporary artistic practices to innovate and push boundaries, to provoke and imagine new ways of being, and to create exceptional artworks and experiences within the gallery and community spaces. We welcome visitors of all ages, cultures and identities, and are here to provide people with the support and confidence to do what will make a difference – in Leigh, the Wigan borough and beyond.
